Housing (continued)

By the time our lease on the bungalow was up, we had found a 3-bedroom 2-story house at the end of a deadend street with a city park bordering the house on one side. In effect, the side yard was several acres of nicely mown lawn. We thought it was perfect so we now owned our first home and life was good. We may not have known it at the time but we were living the American Dream. We owned our home, we owned a new car, I had a good job, we had 2 healthy children (a boy and a girl), and we lived in a beautiful location. Speaking of new car, it was a 1964 Dodge Dart convertible. It looked like a foreign sports car and some people thought it was.
